B1 Job Opportunities in the Media Industry

 I am very interested in the film sector of the media industry. When it comes to the Film Industry, experience is valued very highly, even more so than grades. It is a very competitive industry and things such as film internships are very rare and difficult to obtain. One example of a job opportunity in the film industry is a 'Film Editor'. This is a very important role in the post-production process because this job requires the editor to piece together camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects to produce a final film. In order to become a film editor, you will need to have collected a wide range of experiences with editing, mostly on smaller scale projects to build skill and get noticed. 

Another example of  a job opportunity in the film industry is a lighting technician. In a film, good lighting is a crucial part of creating the right atmosphere and making sure that the visual quality is crisp and professional. The majority of lightning technicians working in the film industry are already qualified electricians or have a specialist degree in a relevant subject such as lighting technology or design. This job requires technical knowledge, a good level of physical fitness for lifting heavy lighting equipment as well as creative flair.

Research into the Film Industry: When looking at employment opportunities in media, I researched the film industry as this is the sector that I am most interested in.  The film industry or motion picture industry comprises the technological and commercial institutions of film-making, i.e., film production companies, film studios, cinematography, animation, film production, screenwriting, pre-production, post production, film festivals, distribution and actors.  The oldest national film industry is Hollywood and is also perhaps the most well known across the world.
