Employment in Industry: Jobs

I initially conducted a general internet search for media jobs in the UK. Many positions advertised were located in London and the surrounding areas. Media jobs advertised on https://jobs.theguardian.com/jobs/media/ produced the biggest result. Again, many of these roles were based in London and were a senior position.

 


I narrowed my internet search to Media jobs in the North East. www.totaljobs.com and www.reed.co.uk seemed to be quite popular websites. I viewed the job specifications but many of them required at least 1 year previous job experience and degree level qualifications. I did not find anything suitable but it did give me a better idea of the different kind of roles that are available.


 


 

Overall, https://uk.indeed.com provided the most relevant vacancies for my age and entry level. I feel an apprentice position would be the most suitable for me to start my career in media. I have considered the following positions:

 




 

The skills and experience required for these roles include basic marketing material to promote the company, photo editing, graphics for social medias and logo design.

Mock Interviews are very important as they act as experience and help you to develop the skills that you require for real interviews. Research into the Film Industry: When looking at employment opportunities in media, I researched the film industry as this is the sector that I am most interested in.  The film industry or motion picture industry comprises the technological and commercial institutions of film-making, i.e., film production companies, film studios, cinematography, animation, film production, screenwriting, pre-production, post production, film festivals, distribution and actors.  The oldest national film industry is Hollywood and is also perhaps the most well known across the world.
